Where you board changes your whole day. The Punta Cana coast stretches from Cap Cana in the south to Bávaro and beyond, while the islands of Saona and Catalina sit off the south-east coast near Bayahibe and La Romana. Picking the right port keeps transfers short and puts you closer to your destination.
As a rule of thumb: stay local (Punta Cana, Bávaro) for snorkeling, sandbars and sunset cruises; choose Cap Cana Marina or Punta Cana Resort Marina for deep-sea fishing and yachts; go to Bayahibe for Saona Island and Palmilla; Casa de Campo for Catalina Island and luxury yachts on the La Romana coast; and Miches for quiet, undeveloped beaches on the north-east coast. Transfers from your hotel are included where applicable, so a longer drive can still be worth it when it saves time on the water.
