The essential list
Sun protection first: reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brim or strapped hat, sunglasses with a strap and a long-sleeve rash guard or light shirt. The sun on the water is stronger than on land because it reflects off the sea, and shade on smaller boats is limited.
Then the basics: swimwear worn under your clothes, a beach towel (ask if towels are on board), a light cover-up, and flip-flops or water shoes that you can take off on deck.
Documents, money and phones
Carry a photo ID or a copy of your passport. Some routes, such as Saona and Catalina, pass through national park areas where fees may apply. [Confirm current park fees and whether they are included.] Bring some cash in US dollars or Dominican pesos for extras and tips.
A waterproof phone pouch or dry bag keeps phones safe from spray. A small power bank is useful on full-day trips. If you bring a camera, bring a strap.
Health and comfort

A light jacket or sweater helps on sunset cruises, when the wind can feel cool after dark.
For kids and babies
Pack swim diapers, a spare set of clothes, snacks they like, a sun hat and a rash guard. Tell us the ages of children when you book so we can check child-size life jackets. [Confirm infant life jacket availability per boat.]
What is usually on board
Private charters include the boat, captain, crew, fuel and safety equipment. Many boats carry snorkel masks, a cooler and a sound system. Food, premium drinks, fishing equipment and decorations are optional extras that we arrange when you book.
What to leave at the hotel
Leave jewelry, laptops, large amounts of cash and hard suitcases behind. Avoid glass bottles on deck. Stiletto or black-soled shoes can mark decks; bare feet or soft soles are best.
Snorkeling and fishing extras
If you have your own mask with a prescription lens or a favorite snorkel, bring it. For fishing charters the rods, bait and tackle are provided or arranged as an extra; bring a cap, polarized glasses and a cooler bag if you plan to keep your catch where permitted.
